🔧 How To Create the Zero Clearance Blade Slot

Follow these common workshop steps to safely cut the blade slot after installing the insert:

  1. Lower the Saw Blade Completely
Ensure the blade is fully lowered below the table surface before installing the insert.

  2. Install the Insert
Place the zero clearance insert into the saw and make sure it sits flat and secure. Verify that it does not rock or move.

  3. Secure the Insert
If your saw includes leveling screws or hold-down hardware, adjust them so the insert is flush with the table surface.

  4. Position the Fence
Move the fence over the insert. This helps keep the insert securely in place during the slot cutting process.

  5. Start the Saw
Stand to the side of the blade (never directly in line with it) and turn on the saw.

  6. Slowly Raise the Blade
Carefully and gradually raise the blade through the insert until it reaches the desired cutting height. This creates the zero clearance slot precisely matched to your blade.

  7. Turn Off the Saw and Inspect
Shut off the saw and allow the blade to stop completely before checking the insert. Ensure the slot is clean and the insert remains flush with the table.

⚠ Safety Notice:

Always follow proper table saw safety procedures. Verify correct installation before use. Stand clear when raising the blade through the insert. Use push sticks, guards, and safe cutting techniques whenever applicable. Use at your own risk, as with any table saw accessory.
